Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, the best DJs in the world

Martin Garrix, winner for the last three years, is dethroned.

Perhaps Martin Garrix had a whiff of trouble last week when he didn’t want to give more importance to the DJ Mag top. After three consecutive years leading the ranking of the best DJs on the planet, the Dutchman has been dethroned by Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike.

Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike are the most relevant Belgian duo of DJs and EDM producers on the electronic scene and they once again occupy the top spot in the top 100 after having conquered it in 2015.

The news has caught these two brothers in Ibiza finishing a residency in Ushuaia, one of the first places where they performed quite a few years ago when they were barely of age.

This year, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike have continued their commitment to urban sounds such as reggaeton and trap by launching Instagram and announcing a collaboration with Sebastián Yatra. In addition, they have participated in one of the best electronic music festivals of the year, A summer story, nominated for the LOS40 Music Awards.

Since 1997, the British magazine DJ Mag or DJ Magazine has been annually preparing this ranking of the 100 best DJs in the world through a popular voting system open to any DJ on the planet. In 2019, more than 1.3 million people have cast their vote from 179 different countries.

On October 19, 2016, Martin Garrix made history by becoming the youngest DJ to reach the top of this list. A position that he would not abandon in 2017 and 2018. Garrix has come close to equaling the absolute record held by Armin Van Buuren who won it four times consecutively from 2007 to 2010 (he would win it for the fifth time in 2012).

In addition to Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike and Martin Garrix, the Top 10 is completed by David Guetta (3), Armin Van Buuren (4), Marshmello (5), Don Diablo (6), Oliver Heldens (7), Tiesto (8), Afrojack (9) and Steve Aoki (10).

Once again, the DJ Mag Top 100 is dominated almost exclusively by men, with only 8 women in the top 100. The Nervo sisters do not appear until position 24. Alison Wonderland appears at position 44, Mariana Bo at 49, Mattn at 51, Nina Kraviz at 60, MissK8 at 69, Charlotte DeWitte at 74 and Peggy Gou at 80.
